Family bonds: They mate for life. Parents will look after their young ones for a year before having them fly away. Small family groups are common.

Choosing mates: Besides appearance and using specific mating calls, they will also try to attract mates with gifts. It can be food or something particularly pretty that they found. Mostly it's males who will try to attract the females but females have been known to groom themselves to perfection to attract males to them. Once chosen they stay together until the death of another.

Interaction with humans: Of course with their intelligence and pretty colors, humans seek them out as both exotic pets, attractions, and trophies. They are very high maintenance pets. It's much easier to raise them as hatchlings as they are very social and will imprint on the first caretaker they have. They demand a strict diet and lots of stimulation for their minds. Otherwise they become very destructive, depressed, and even go mad. More often than not they simply escape and return occasionally when it suits them. Given their rarity and general uniqueness, it is a crime to hunt them but that doesn't stop poachers. However it is difficult to hunt them given that they simply fly up to their hidden sanctuary in the Laveren Clouds. The clouds can only be accessed by lavoure and no human has ever come close to finding them. Nevertheless during molting season you will always find plenty of feathers to collect and use. They are popular in zoos but due to their high intelligence and ability to use tools it is near impossible to keep them contained. The best that can be done is by making a sanction that they can fly in an out of. These sanctions also provide food and protection. it's not uncommon to see a few nests in these sanctions. The lavoure learn to tolerate the humans that sometimes poke around their trees and stare at them all the time. Some zoos have successfully gained a few 'permanent' resident in their havens for the lavoure.
